Water Removal and Cleanup From Your Chicago Basement With Ease 

Basements have many purposes in the home, such as storage or as a home office. Others use them as playrooms or additional bedrooms. Locating the Source of Water Loss

She called in SERVPRO to assist with water removal from the carpet and repair the basement ceiling. The techs used their moisture detection equipment and found a slow leak in a pipe in the ceiling. While the homeowner brought in a plumber to make the repairs, the techs continued the restoration services.

Minor Controlled Demo Needed

Only a small portion of the ceiling had wicked water, and the techs cut it away to open up the ceiling area for both drying and necessary repairs. They used a portable extractor with a weighted head to push the water out of the carpet and padding to prep it for drying.

Drying the Floor and Ceiling

When SERVPRO techs dry a property, they carefully set up the air movers to direct the airflow directly into wet areas to expedite drying. While the air movers cause embedded moisture to rise, the dehumidification equipment captures it and ports it away, which brings down the air moisture levels rapidly. This cycle lessens the chances of mold or musty odors being a secondary issue after the fact. The drying process gets monitored to ensure that the room attains preset interior humidity goals. 

Final Touches 

Once dry, the techs wiped down the exposed area in the ceiling with antimicrobial cleaning agents to ensure it was clean and ready for the installation of new ceiling tiles to get the room back to normal.
