Mold Problem in a Chicago Basement

Basements are notorious for retaining dampness and propagating mold development. Pictured by the stairs is just one patch that was taking over this Chicago home. Controlling the moisture by maintaining an RH level of about 50% is crucial to help prevent future infestations once the remediation is completed. Demolition of the non-salvageable materials, safely wrapped and discarded, covered a large area of this basement. Though SERVPRO always attempts to restore damaged elements before replacing them, this is not always possible. The final result, a prepared previously mold infested area for a rehab, disinfected and safe for the residents, means another job well-done.
