Water Damage Chicago
Inside the walls of your home is a matrix of electrical cables, water-pipes, and drainage pipes. There may also be several microbial bacteria or mold spores which make up a natural part of any indoor environment. However, issues like a slow leak can begin to cause severe problems in your property. You may notice an area of your home begins to fade, yellow, or become odorous. Alternatively, the water pressure of your taps and shower may weaken.
These are signs of a slow leak that could be causing water damage to your Chicago home. The longer that slow leaks go unnoticed, the more costly issues they create, which is why homeowners need to stay vigilant to the subtle changes in their home environment and amenities. Among some root causes of damage, mold growth as well as stagnation or rot occurring from inside wall cavities. For a homeowner, these areas may be tough to inspect regularly, which is why you can use SERVPRO to investigate and restore potential water loss.
One of the issues with water buildup in wall cavities is restrictive access. Demolishing or removing sections of drywall may be an unnecessarily aggressive response. SERVPRO technicians use Borescopes to check inside cavities without the need to remove them altogether. Where there are significant water issues, we can remove walls to gain drying access. But in many cases, we can use non-invasive equipment to achieve the same result.
Examples of non-invasive structural cavity drying equipment may include injectidry systems, negative and positive air pressure machines. A negative air pressure machine uses a large exhaust that stretches outside the property. Smaller ducts can be fitted and attached to the wall. A SERVPRO technician can either drill holes beneath the baseboard or on the wall itself, filling it in again once the service is complete.
Depending on the extent of damage, we may choose negative air pressure to remove contaminants from inside a wall or injectidry systems to circulate warm, dry air inside the cavity. Which option we want depends upon the results of the Borescope inspection. SERVPRO can help you to overcome minor water issues in restrictive areas of your home by using the right equipment at the right time.
